Shippensburg DL Chisom Ifeanyi Transfers to FAU Football

Chisom Ifeanyi DL 6-5, 248 lbs Transfer Shippensburg (D2) The Florida Atlantic football team has been making their rounds in the transfer portal, seeing Chisom Ifeanyi declare his allegiance to the program for the Class of 2024. This gives the Owls an intriguing option in the defensive line when he makes his way to Boca Raton next year. Making his announcement on Monday afternoon after having an official visit to FAU on December 8th, Ifeanyi leaves D2 school Shippensburg after three years. In 23 games for the Raiders, he made 37 tackles (24 solo), 13 tackles for loss, nine sacks, six pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and an interception. This past season can be regarded as a comeback year, having sustained a season-ending injury in 2022. In 10 contests, he made 16 tackles (11 solo), 6.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception which he returned for a 51-yard touchdown during the team’s season-opener against Newberry. His performance against Millersville in October was noteworthy, obtaining a season-high six tackles (five solo), three tackles for loss, and three sacks. Described as a “monster” by Owls’ defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni, Ifeanyi has huge upside as he possesses astounding speed for his size and a strong ability as a pass rusher. Ifeanyi is now the 19th member of FAU’s ever-growing 2024 class. He chose the Owls over Ohio, FIU, and Ball State among others. He also becomes the 12th player to be joining the Owls’ defense in the 2024 season, joining the likes of defensive lineman Loren Ward, defensive end Gavench Marcelin, defensive back Elijah Cannon, cornerbacks Jaheim Miller and Lawrence Johnson, safeties Michael Wright III and Curtis Janvier, and linebackers Jarvis Johnson Jr., Remington Roberts, Char’Quez Lee, and Kyler Laing. His highlights from his senior year at Neshaminy High School back in 2018 can be seen below:
