Hunter Litman got the FAU Hockey Club on the board just minutes into the Owls first game of the new year vs Florida Southern. The puck would find the back of the next 12 more times before the final buzzer as the Owls picked up right where they left off before the Christmas break.
A short time later in front of a packed Panther’s Ice Den crowd Brady Baehser netted the Owls second goal and the Club went into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead.
Florida Southern determined to not let FAU run away with it, scored the second periods first goal to tie the game up at 2-2. The Owls quickly answered back with goals by Justin Harshaw and Christian Cotter to take what looked like a commanding 4-2 lead into the locker room at the end of two.
Once again Florida Southern stormed back with 2 goals in the first few minutes of the third period to knot the game up at 4 each. Then the Florida Atlantic Hockey Club flipped the switch. Goals by Jake Murphy and Brady Baehser’s (second of the game) put FAU up 6-4 midway through the third period.
Keith Goldberg tacked on the seventh goal of the night giving the FAU a 7-4 lead late in the third, but Florida Southern continued to fight back with a quick goal cutting into the Owls lead again.
With four minutes left in the third period and Florida Southern pressing to get back in the game, the man that started the night’s scoring put the final nail in the coffin as Hunter Litman netted his second goal of the night sealing the Owls victory by a final score of 8-5.
